My passion is to help people create their goals, save for the future and experience financial independence. You won’t catch me wearing a suit or offering “the hottest stock tips”, but if you have a dream, I’m dedicated to helping you make it a reality.
My journey to this profession started when I was just 10 years old. I started receiving my first allowance of 30 cents a week. 10 cents went to the church, 10 cents went to a savings account, and 10 cents could be spent on anything I wanted. I soon realized that by saving my “spending” money, I could buy more than just a piece of Double Bubble.
That’s how I became a natural “saver”. Investing was a different lesson. Not long after I graduated from college, a stockbroker called me and convinced me that the stock in a new blimp company was going to skyrocket. Instead, the opposite happened, and I lost the entire investment.
That experience taught me two things about investing: 1) you need to have a goal (not a hot stock tip), and 2) you should work with someone as dedicated to your goal as you are. After that day, I spent countless hours reading Money Magazine and Kiplinger Reports to find the investments that were right for me and my goals.
It wasn’t long before a coworker asked for help with her investments. The next month, another coworker asked for help. One thing led to another, and I found myself dispensing investment advice to my social and professional circles. I realized I had found my calling, and I’ve been a practicing financial advisor for nearly 30 years.
My professional passion is investing, but my personal passion has always been the outdoors. I love living in Colorado and am blessed to be able to backpack, snowshoe, raft, explore old mining communities, mountain bike, and fish on a regular basis. I’ve completed a thru-hike of the Colorado Trail (486 miles of the most beautiful country on Earth) and even shot a documentary about it! When I’m not exploring the backcountry, you might find me reading, volunteering at the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce, the Buena Vista Trail Advisory Board, or cleaning campgrounds.
